That bird call is the Swainson's Thrush.

Well we had no idea there were so many of you avid ornithologists out there. Since posting our contest last December, we received over 60 correct entries! Thank you all for taking the time to give us your answers.

We consulted 3 expert ornithologists — John Neville, Neville Recordings, Michael McNall of the Royal British Columbia Museum and Dr. Neville Winchester, Associate Professor Biology, University of Victoria. All of them confirmed these are the sweet sounds of the Swainson's Thrush — one of the most common thrushes found at Point No Point.

In the summer, you'll hear the Swainson's Thrush in the alder groves near the beach, but catching a glimpse of this shy bird may not be as simple, so in case you're wondering, here's what this little bird looks like.
